Left-brain, right-brain test: what are you?

By Murray Bourne, 04 Dec 2007

Which do you use most - your right brain or left brain?

I was stronger on the left brain side where the emphasis is on:

uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

Makes sense.

  1. Srikanth says:

The rotation seems quite random to me. One moment its clockwise then its anticlockwise. Is that bad?

  2. Murray says:

Hi Srikanth. Not "bad" at all - it just means your right and left hemispheres are alternately taking control of your perception of the dancer. With some people, one hemisphere is more dominant than the other, with other people there is a tussle for dominance. You are the second type!

  3. Charumati says:

I can see it going both ways too. It doesn't alternate randomly, but if I focus, I can change the direction with a little effort (or distraction). Which side am I? And also, which type of study techniques would be best for me? Right brain or left brain?
Oh and thanks for replying to Srikanth's question too πŸ™‚

  4. Murray says:

@Charumati: It sounds like you are somewhere in the middle, somewhat similar to Srikanth. It seems you both can enjoy the best of both worlds - left and right!

  5. kaltham says:

I can only see that the rotation is anticlockwise..
it's clear for me that she is moving anticlockwise!
    what about my brain??!!

HTML: You can use simple tags like <b>, <a href="...">, etc.

To enter math, you can can either:

  1. Use simple calculator-like input in the following format (surround your math in backticks, or qq on tablet or phone):
    `a^2 = sqrt(b^2 + c^2)`
(See more on ASCIIMath syntax); or
  2. Use simple LaTeX in the following format. Surround your math with \( and \).
    \( \int g dx = \sqrt{\frac{a}{b}} \)
    (This is standard simple LaTeX.)

NOTE: You can mix both types of math entry in your comment.
