# Rapper loves math

By Murray Bourne, 16 Oct 2006

From MTV (original no longer available):

"Lloyd Banks often hits fans with an assortment of witty one-liners and clever punch lines. But the G-Unit rapper took to his alma mater, August Martin High School in Jamaica, New York, last week, with a much more straightforward message: Get your education. Banks donated \$10,000 to the school library and offered words of encouragement to an auditorium full of students:

'I wanted to be a writer. I loved English. [...] I wanted to know how to count my money, so I love math. You got to take what you want out of [school] and it will definitely put you in the right direction.'

Amen to that.

HTML: You can use simple tags like <b>, <a href="...">, etc.

To enter math, you can can either:

1. Use simple calculator-like input in the following format (surround your math in backticks, or qq on tablet or phone):
a^2 = sqrt(b^2 + c^2)
(See more on ASCIIMath syntax); or
2. Use simple LaTeX in the following format. Surround your math with $$ and $$.
$$\int g dx = \sqrt{\frac{a}{b}}$$
(This is standard simple LaTeX.)

NOTE: You can mix both types of math entry in your comment.
