## Friday math movie – Science of Watchmen

[27 Nov 2009]

This week’s movie from the University of Minnesota has attracted over 1.5 million views on YouTube.

It probably makes more sense if you’ve seen the movie *The Watchmen*, but it is still an interesting analysis and has some nice math, like composite trigonometric curves (adding 2 sine curves that are out of sync so that they cancel themselves out).

Here is an interview with Elizabeth Giorgi from University of Minnesota on the popularity of *Science of Watchmen*. There are screen shots of the YouTube statistics for the movie (views over time, peak in viewership interest and so on).

There’s some interesting math and statistics involved here.
