Improvements in crosswind landing app: <\/strong>I realized after sending out the last mail that there were some errors in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intmath.com\/vectors\/4-adding-vectors-2-dimensions.php\">cross-wind landing applet<\/a>. On some tablets, the Cessna would fly around in crazy loops. These issues are fixed now. Please always let me know if something doesn't work, or look right, on IntMath. <\/p>\n<p><strong>b. Canadian Thanksgiving: <\/strong> I'd like to apologize to my Canadian readers for saying  in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intmath.com\/blog\/letters\/intmath-newsletter-vectors-geogebra-5-9904\">last IntMath Newsletter<\/a> that Canadian Thanksgiving is at the same time as it is in the USA. In Canada, it's actually celebrated on the second Monday in October.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Math puzzles<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intmath.com\/blog\/letters\/intmath-newsletter-vectors-geogebra-5-9904#puzzle\">puzzle in the last IntMath Newsletter<\/a> asked about the difference between  <span class=\"intmath\"><em>e<\/em><sup>ln <em>x<\/em><\/sup><\/span> and  <span class=\"intmath\">ln <em>e<\/em><sup><em>x<\/em><\/sup><\/span>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intmath.com\/blog\/letters\/intmath-newsletter-vectors-geogebra-5-9904#comments\">correct answer with explanation<\/a>  was given by Michael, Nicos, Guido, Hamid and Francis, while  answers by the following people were partly correct: Gerard, Miguel, Ronak and Francisco. <\/p>\n<p id=\"puzzle\"><strong>New math puzzle<\/strong>: I received the following homework question from a reader. I usually object to this type of &quot;pseudo-real-world&quot; question, since it's actually not at all realistic. But I thought it would be a good end of year puzzle for the Newsletter. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Mike bought 8 chocolate bars and paid $5 with his credit card and the rest with cash. His friend bought 4 chocolate bars and $7 in candy. If both of them paid the same amount of money in cash, how much does one chocolate bar cost?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Leave your responses  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intmath.com\/blog\/letters\/intmath-newsletter-solar-vision-geogebratube-9882#respond\">here<\/a>.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>6. Final thought - success <\/h2>\n<p>Thomas Edison was working on his light bulb around the same time Augustin Mouchot developed his solar engine. Edison actually formed his Edison Electric Company in the same year (1878) that Mouchot exhibited at the Universal Exhibition. <\/p>\n<p>This is what Edison had to say about success: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were   to success when they gave up.
