LiveMath Example
Change the coefficients (the
numbers in front of the x2 and x
terms) and the constant (the last number) to see what happens in
a quadratic equation and its graph. [Use numbers less than 10, to
start with.]
To change the coefficients, highlight
the number first [otherwise the x
disappears and it goes all wrong!].
When you get a curve entirely
ABOVE (or entirely BELOW) the x axis, you will get
COMPLEX SOLUTIONS (you will see j
appearing in the factors). When the curve goes through
the x-axis, we have REAL solutions.
If the red graph disappears,
click on the rocket symbol (it zooms you out) until you see it
again.
You can move the graph around
by dragging on it (Move the cursor to the graph area and it
changes to a hand. Drag it around and see what happens).
