SMART Board in Singapore and SEO

I liked the look of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and I decided to contact the local Singapore distributors and ask them to come and demonstrate the product.
I did several Google searches on Smart Board Singapore and the like, but did not find a Singapore distributor at all, even though I know they exist.
Eventually I had to go to the main Canadian SMART Board site and drill down several layers to find the Singapore distributors. The page I eventually landed on for the Singapore distributor was awful from a SEO (search engine optimisation) point of view. There was no mention of “Singapore” in the text of the site and there were no meta tags at all. Some text was hidden in an image (a real no-no).
If you want to sell stuff, you have to be easy to find…
Update 1: (3 days after posting the above): Today I Googled the keywords again and this post was in Number 1 position. Note that I used the keywords in the title, the header tag, in the first paragraphs and in the URL for the post.
Update 2: Hmmm – today (21 Sep) I checked again and the post has completely disappeared from Google and Yahoo indexes. It’s still there in MSN, though. A case of “keyword stuffing” (which gets you banned), perhaps?
Update 3: I modified this post a bit so it was less keyword heavy. Here’s hoping Google’s algorithm is in a forgiving mood…
Update 4: (23 Sep) – Okay, so this post is back at #1 in Google for the search term “smart board singapore”. Am I forgiven for keyword stuffing or was it that the post just disappeared from Google’s index for a few days? I’m not sure now, but it has been an interesting learning experience.
