IE7 and Windows updates

By Murray Bourne, 17 Aug 2006

This was not made very obvious when I installed IE7:

OS Updates--Do not reinstall any version of Microsoft Windows in any way after you install Internet Explorer 7. Do not upgrade in place or upgrade to a new edition. The workaround is to remove Internet Explorer 7 Beta, install operating system updates, and then reinstall Internet Explorer.

(Found at IE7's Release Notes.)

Hmm - of course, several updates have automatically installed themselves since then. So should I expect a blue screen of death sometime soon...?

HTML: You can use simple tags like <b>, <a href="...">, etc.

To enter math, you can can either:

  1. Use simple calculator-like input in the following format (surround your math in backticks, or qq on tablet or phone):
    `a^2 = sqrt(b^2 + c^2)`
(See more on ASCIIMath syntax); or
  2. Use simple LaTeX in the following format. Surround your math with \( and \).
    \( \int g dx = \sqrt{\frac{a}{b}} \)
    (This is standard simple LaTeX.)

NOTE: You can't mix both types of math entry in your comment.
